Basic & Loving it

Remember that really basic white girl thing Kira and I do when our facebook profile pictures get out dated?
It's something we try to keep pretty secret but let's be honest... it's so not a secret.
There isn't anyone else I would be able to drive up the canyon with on a Saturday and feel comfortable enough to let them take iphone pictures of me. I'm so grateful for Kira.
I'll own up to my super basic Saturday activity without too much embarrassment LOL (see I just used lol, which has actually become a bad habit as part of my vocabulary. We started saying it as a joke but now it just happens)
Fall is my most favorite season. I love the leaves when they change color. It makes me miss the big Canadian maple leaves. It is beautiful and cozy.
Oh yeah... and I have blonde-ish hair. I needed something to motivate me to do my hair again. Just trying to look like Haley :)

We will probably do this again once the snow comes or one of us cuts or dyes our hair again cuz why not? Sometimes being a basic white girl isn't all that bad xoxo

I can't even...

I have started this post around 6 times now.
At first I couldn't let myself even think of publishing a farewell freshman year because I was in denial about it all ending.
Now that the goodbyes have been said my heart has been ripped out crushed beneath the cruel foot of bitter endings and I have shed enough tears to end a summers drought I began to try and write.
Nothing I write feels good enough. It doesn't matter how many times I rearrange the 26 letters in the English alphabet. Words just don't do the trick to explain the love I have for the people I have met and the place I lived for the last 10 months. No picture can accurately describe the degree to which I loved my freshman year of college.
I can't even.

We all take different paths in life but no matter where we go we take a little of each other everywhere.

I'll be taking a little bit of these 10 girls with me for the rest of my life.

The classic Nicole and Megan hair flip photo :)

Picture overload but hey I could have happily put all 700 and honestly freshman year deserves many more pictures. xoxo to the last year of aggie goodness!

Easter Sunday

Only Nicole and I would wake up early to capture the perfect roommate Easter photo.

kiss kiss and Happy Easter from Megan and Nicole.
It was a B E A U T I F U L Sunday morning, perfect for Easter. #BecauseOfHim I am able to feel the joys of each and everyday. I was able to come to Utah State and live with my wonderful roommate. I am grateful for sunshine and springtime and for Nicole! I love Easter and my Savior Jesus Christ.

Beauty in a Bad Day

(thoughts from last week)
It had been a long day, a bad day.
The kind where it feels like everything that can go wrong does and you are counting the hours until it is over.
I was running on about an hour of sleep and took the trash out (down 4 stories and across a field- stinking stairs) hoping to clear my head and pull myself back together.
The snow looked irresistibly fluffy and I had an urge to fall onto the fresh blanket.
I laid there in the snow staring at the sky intending to throw myself a pitty party.
However, as I watched the snowflakes float to the earth I felt as peaceful as they looked.
I stayed there for a few minutes until I was wet and cold enough to make it uncomfortable.
Even on my very worst days I am blessed beyond measure.
How grateful am I to know who I am, where I came from and where I am going.

These photos were taken by my super talented roommate. As we walked to the game her artistic eye saw something most people miss. It is fun to see the way she looks at the world and always fun to conveniently be there to model for her. Check out her work here.

hair for every season

Freshman Friday Nights
Back in October when I dyed my hair for the first time I was warned that it was addicting. I thought I would be fine just letting it fade back to normal- wrong. Fresh hair gives you a fresh feeling about life. I needed something exciting and I'm lucky to have a skilled roommate who was itching to play with some hair. So here is to winter hair!
